A New Guard Is Needed
November 30th 2006 02:43
A recent political cartoon of Kim Beazley depicting him as a balloon full of air said what people have been thinking. He is an old windbag with nothing to say. Except when he gives brilliant losing speeches on federal election nights. The Labor party spin is that leadership speculation is a media beat up and a distraction from the real job of beating Howard. However. there is nothing to distract away from as people stopped listening to Beazley ages ago. The Labor Party has rocks in its head if it continues down this path and deserves what they get even though its supporters don't deserve a party going no where and another term of a very Conservative government. If Wayne Swan and others don't undermine them, a team of Kevin Rudd and Julia Gillard is a great balance. Rudd is a perfect antidote to Howard. He will wipe away the Latham memories and Christians and families will have confidence in him. He has good economic credentials from his time in the Goss government and he has vast knowledge of foreign affairs and security matters. And most of all he will win over the all important Queensland vote needed if they are to win power. If you had a problem in your electorate, who would you go to in order to get it fixed and seen to, Beazley or Rudd? I know who I'd choose. The one that's a good talker and a doer.
