Talking Headlines - by Bill Green

Talking Headlines - July 2008

China has proved itself a recalcitrant country. Its chance to deliver an honest, straightforward style over the Olympics and over its murderous oppression in Tibet, and within its own borders, has been obliterated.

It’s made the Olympic committee, a body whose members have often received bribes from successful countries, look pathetic. One of its leaders, Kevan Gosper, is a patent fool, imagining the Olympic movement could cover up China’s bastardry. Kevan kept silent when he was told that China was about to censor the world. Not even Hitler
imagined he could do that during the 36 Olympics. How could Gosper imagine he had the right to collaborate with them in such a scheme? I guess it’s that Melbourne Club (Kevan’s club) attitude: never rock the boat if you want to keep money pouring into your coffers.

I like the idea of China doing business with the Melbourne Club. They have similar principles and behaviours. It begins with the MC’s first rule, never tell anyone anything unless it can earn you money. They back bloodshed and bullying to squeeze money from the poorest. That’s how the MC began making money, by slygrogging to the tribes living on the Yarra River (see Michael Cannon’s Vol 1 on the archives of the Victorian settlement). The club was a haven for graziers who had ridden in from the Western District for a break, often with blood stains on their clothes from the aborigines they had killed on their trip. Their members today back violent intrusions into other poorer, countries. It would appear China is no different from the majority of Melbourne Club members.

Gosper has been earning money introducing our business people (MC members) to their business people (Communist Party members).

ABE SAFFRON'S ABATTOIR MURDERS

July 29th 2008 07:16
Abe Saffron a man of many parts, murderer, patron of poetry and the arts, pimp and wildlife smuggler, was a true bastard.

Nevertheless he looked after those who were prepared to hang out with him (if they were recognised as up and coming talents).

Investigating wildlife smuggling in the nineties he became, for me, the quintessential evil smuggler. A Senate inquiry into that industry accused him of killing five competitors in the game, and one game warden. Their bodies were never found but were believed to have been put through the dog food machine in a Queensland abattoir.

My brother was drinking in a Sydney pub with a man’s boutique fashion shop when the fashion marketeer was approached by his landlord. “How’s business?” the landlord asked.

“Not too good was the reply.”

“Burn it,” was the order from Saffron.

I’m so tempted to name the poet and the film critic and screenwriter who lived in an apartment (free) belonging to Abe. But they were naive then and it would unfair. However I remember naming them in a fictionalised true account of my investigation into Abe’s abattoir murders ( Dying for Paradise - Hodder 96).

BRUMBY IS A POLITICAL SOOK

July 25th 2008 05:47
Love the way Premier Brumby is hiding behind his wife's complaint about protesters advising they will protest at the Premier's country property. Brumby's wife explains she feels insecure, fearful and as if the property in the country is no longer her private world. That's fine she's not in politics and shouldn't necessarily be hounded for her husbands decision to take water out of the mouths of Murray farmers and pipe it to the mouths of the urban population.

It's only when Brumby complains that his wife is being hounded and that she has every right to complain about the threatened treatment. We know that Premier, but you should come out in your true colours as a sook and whine about protesters coming to your property as well.

I'm threatening you, and your government - not your wife or children - with legal action under the UN legislation, that states that if a government and corporation knowingly decides to create carbon emissions that lead to extreme weather conditions then you and your government is liable. The charge before the international criminal court is to be criminal negligence (as I understand it) and I will supply them with all the information on the Port Phillip Bay dredging ( my doco, The Last Good Summer, shown on nine and channel 31 has all the relevant info, and has been seen by your public servants and a former Premier. Have witnesses to the purchase of the DVD and the showing of it to Bracksy's electoral office). The former Premier didn't make the decision to go ahead, you did and you're going to wear it. There is no estimate on carbon emissions for the project. That's negligent, wouldn't you say? And you were also warned of an Exxon Valdez scenario. Not "if" but "when" warns former harbour master, Captain Frank Hart.

And if you feel your rights have been trodden on, remember that you have trodden on the rights of all Victorians who love the bay. My memories are of growing up there, in those waters, and they belong to the people of Victoria, the creatures that inhabit the sea, and not interstate and wealthy businesspeople (Melbourne Club confreres in particular). Many of them are so dumb they don't realise the Portsea waters have already been contaminated and their real estate has become fragile.

Promoters of GM are risking the destruction of the healing power of natural foods. They have no research for the assertions that GM doesn't alter the benefits of traditional food. It hasn't been attempted. There are rumours of GM soybean research in New Zealand in which all the rats died but I can't yet track it down. Reports from the US on GM canola indicate stomach ailments result from its consumption, however again no research so no one can sue. Meanwhile there is no other authoritative information on its alleged benefits for the starving on the planet, apart from the promoters' claims.

Scientists tend not to believe that natural products have healing power unless it has been highly refined, or copied synthetically (after all there are jobs there).

HRI-alert tell me that many studies have found, for instance, that onions and celery remove plaque from the walls of arteries and veins quickly. There have been no studies on GM onions or celery, maybe there will be when they think they can alter them for less water, more sun, or the next wave of insects. Point is though that they don't have to. But common sense warns you that lobster, spiders or elephant genes may alter the responses of the other natural chemicals - or your body - as they pass through your stomach.

GM is being promoted by huge companies like Monsanto who take the capacity to create seeds out of your fruit and vegetable plants so that they can sell you and the farmers more seed next year. They also sell pesticides and herbicides and so make the plants more resistant to those products so the farmers can use more. The conclusion is that there is an utter dereliction of duty by our governments not to demand appropriate research. They don't even think about it because we have great and retired scientists saying GM is going to save future generations from starving. Any research, apart from that performed by deceptive marketing companies? No.

The Olympic Games should be abandoned. Each country is determined to use it as a propaganda weapon. China’s disgraceful behaviour over Tibet with their murdering, torture, and daily oppression of the population, should be shunned for its duplication of Nazi behaviour. Yes, they’ve developed very straightforward policies that only mean genocide for Tibetans: forced sterility and arbitrary murder for anyone who criticizes or protests the regime.

Why should we help China attempt to clean their image (that’s all the Games are now – for any country) while the secret murderings continue?

And as for the athletes, what a bunch of whingeing brain dead people they appear to be ( see the repeat of Australian Story on the ABC). They can’t stand to lose so they have to pretend each member of the crew is perfect, except the one who couldn’t keep up. With that rowing crew spreading out into society with their mean self-focus on winning, we see that sport does not prepare anyone for the disasters that life can foist on everyone.

HOW THE BANKS HAVE ROBBED US AGAIN

July 15th 2008 02:21

I like the pure effrontery of our major banks. This time they have taken around $30 billion dollars from the government's Future Fund to keep themselves looking good to investors/ shareholders. That $30 billion is our money (come in handy for climate change action) but because the banks made poor investments in the subprime mortgage market they cried and pleaded with the government, without our knowledge.

Amazing that the G8 didn't discuss nuclear matters when they debated climate change. It makes me very suspicious. Most are committed to nuclear power despite having no foolproof method of storing waste for 500,000 years. My assumption is that they didn't discuss it openly because they are fearful of a global protest against further developments.

I suspect that they also discussed, in secret, the storing of waste in Australia. After all Rudd is the first Australian prime minister to attend the G8. This time there were other developing countries that attended but for me it was all to maintain strong spin on nuclear developments

Gough Whitlam supported Indonesia's invasion of East Timor. Over 200,000 were murdered in the aftermath and successive Australian Governments kept quiet because we thought we would be divvying up the oil in the Timor Sea with Indonesia and America. Good old Gareth Evans actually signed a deal with the Indonesian trade minister.

No one did a damn thing to stop the murders despite the rebels not wishing to tie themselves up with the communists (Cuba) on arms deals

America has a sort of sub-culture of democracy by assassination. They not only kill their own presidents and those that aspire to the job, but they plan the killings of those leaders they don't like. The funniest attempts were on Fidel Castro. After having failed to have one of his mistresses kill him they plotted to have a substance rubbed on his shiny boots that would make his hair fall out. This would include not only his beard but his pubic hair. They figured he would be such a laughing stock he would be shamed into dying early, or at least stepping down.

Before you cry, that is unbelievable, please read the reports on Congress's investigations into the CIA. Several good movies obtained their comic plots from those investigations

So you thought governments were doing something about climate change? Well they are; they're nurturing it.

Just so you know where the Victorian government stands

How pathetic of the UN to believe the democracies of the world can address climate change when it can't deal with a meglomaniac like Mugabe, or the Burmese military cowards.

They need waking up. For humans and the other mammals on the planet climate change will be horrible. Oh yeah, we have carbon emission trading. Wake up for God's sake. Climate change has been triggered and there is no ultimate capacity to change that. Now governments need to teach us how to survive it. They need to discover those cultures that have thrived in extreme weather conditions and have our youth learn the ways

After Four Corners exposed Halliburton for fraudulently taking $US23 billion out of the re-build Iraq budget, it's probably tardy to mention they also built the railway line from Adelaide to Darwin and ripped us off as well.
