Talking Headlines - by Bill Green

Talking Headlines - April 2009

At last the media has named Pakistan the real terrorist state. Today The Australian carried it on page one. Afghanistan is being kept on the boil because America is undecided on how to contain Pakistan, the nuclear state. As two thirds of Pakistan is Taliban you get the idea. This blog has been banging away for sometime about the danger of Pakistan and not allowing the world to recognise where the real danger lies.

CHINA REALLY TEST FIRED THE ROCKET

April 5th 2009 04:40
China forced North Korea to fire the rocket over Japan. The rocket is powerful enough to reach the west coast of the Unites States and is therefore regarded as a distinct threat to the US.

North Korea doesn't move a centremetre without instructions from China. This time there are blatant moves afoot. China wants the US government to guarantee the trillion US dollars worth of assets it has in America. Such a guarantee, if China then decided to remove the assets, would bankrupt America (Imagine if they demand the same of Australia once they've done the big buy up).

Of course China also wants to support its new status in international politics. Here we are and we're nasty. Why don't they reveal they're behind the rocket firing? Simply because it gives them options and room to move in further negotiations. It's called real politic. They can pretend they had nothing to do with it and so can the west, thus allowing for a fake agreement in the future: we did it all without being frightened or, in the case of China, heavying anyone.

HOW DO WE KNOW THAT THE ABOVE IS THE CASE? Because anyone wanting to deal with North Korea has to include China in negotiations (either blatantly or in secret). In 1974 I accompanied a team to China who were involved in trade negotiations. As an incidental task we helped a wool broker be paid for a large amounts of wool sold to North Korea. China was told of the problem and it was fixed within 24 hours.

If we sell too much to China they may believe that we belong to them. The ALP is falling for China's great con. Australia has to understand that China is not civilised. It is a greedy country that was too long under communist rule. Now they believe the world owes them a living and they plan to make it an ambition.

Already they have asked the US government to guarantee the value of the assets they hold in America, some trillion dollars. If the Americans did this and China called it the US would be bankrupt.

And now we have that magnificent example of political and business morality, Bob Hawke, recommending that we do business with China. What is it about Bob that he likes us to deal with military dictatorships. Remember how he wanted us to get into bed with Burma, one of the most oppressive regimes on the planet, after China.

I was in China in the early seventies with deputy prime minister, Dr Jim Cairns. Our group experienced the authoritarian nature of China's bureaucrats. They attempted to manhandle us in tto queues for the buses, the cars, the restaurants. Senior journalist Greg Clake, who speaks Mandarin, told them, "You can't treat Australians like this; you'll have trouble on your hands." The point is they treat their own citizens far worse.

They are constantly attempting to recruit Australians as spies and if the Defence Minister doesn't think he's being milked for information he's VERYdumb. They invited the disgraced Nixon to China for a straight information buy. They attempted to recruit me as a spy but I told them that our country was totally transparent ( at that time departments had open government journals). The individual attempting to have me send them information had to finally say, "We are very different peoples." And he was right. We are never going to win against the Chinese we should just make sure that we don't make them envious of what we have.

If you wish to read of our spying on China (for the CIA), spy recruiting and my fisticuffs with George Bush senior read my satirical reportage, Compulsively Murdering Mao, available on Amazon.
