Talking Headlines - by Bill Green

Talking Headlines - October 2010

The immorality of the Afghan War and our collusion in it indicates an approaching failure.

The essence of the corruption and criminal conduct behind our aggression is revealed in our training of a warlords' militia members here, in Australia, by our Defence Forces. It is an example of the fine lines of corruption that exist in every level in Afghanistan, the US and Australia.

The warlord, Matiullah Khan, was bribed millions of dollars by the Americans to aid fuel convoys negotiate his territory. He took the money and then held up a very large convoy with a hundred of his men and demanded $2,000 to $3,000 a truck to allow it to continue. The convoy was delayed a day while he was slowly convinced he had already taken money to protect the progress of the trucks.

The Dutch militia refused to have any dealings with Khan because of his tendency to murder to have his way. Why is Australia so slow?

A natural question is how do we expect to win a war if we don't know the traditions, the corruptions, and the way these things are carried out?

So far the war has been meandering along for twice the time of World War 2, without any real agenda, planning, or success, except for a vague prediction that it will continue for another decade - some strategy.
