ABC IN DERELICTION OF ITS JOURNALISTIC DUTY WHEN REPORTING ON TERRORISM
December 1st 2008 05:39
Despite hundreds of millions of dollars paid to Pakistan by the US to fight terrorism the country gets along quite well with its terrorists.
The latest hit in Mumbai was a warning to the US to desist with the drone bombings and warning to Pakistan that the government can be easily hit any time they begin genuinely chasing terrorists.
It's quite pathetic the way the ABC and SBS (never mind the commercial stations) report that Pakistan has been co-operating with the West in fighting terrorism when indeed they haven't. Musharaf took most of the money and even paid some to the terrorists. These are facts easily deduced from the fact that Pakistan has never had any success (in clashes) with the terrorists within their borders, and the US has had to send in their pilotless bombers to take make some headway against Osame who is somewhere in the high, rough country on the border of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Why does the ABC have to take the official version of anything to do with terrorism when they do indeed have capable reporters who know the score, or could indeed hire them? It is in fact a dereliction of journalistic duty.
