AMERICA HAS ALREADY LOST ITS NEW WAR IN PAKISTAN

September 14th 2008 04:43
America has already lost the war in Afghanistan and Pakistan. You didn't really know there was one in Pakistan did you?

Well, it's begun already. Pilotless aircraft are bombing outposts in the mountains. Because the bombers are pilotless they have no idea who they are taking out. It's making the Pakistanis very angry indeed. They're claiming there has been no declaration of war against them.

America is bombing because they were taken for a ride by Musharaf who accepted hundreds of millions of US dollars to rid the border country of terrorists. Problem was that Musharaf was co-operating with the terrorists for he was frightened he would be assassinated by them if he conducted successful operations.

The Americans chose to believe him because they imagined that if they paid him enough he would have to respect them. They didn't understand that for subversives the opposite is true.

And Afghanistan? Well the US have forgotten the guerilla war that was conducted against them in Vietnam. There is nothing to win in Afghanistan. If you imagine there is, please detail it. You might say hearts and minds and the goodwill of the people, but it is very difficult to get those when you are carelessly killing their relatives.

Yes indeed Bill,

it is a tangled web they (and we by default thanks to that toadying weasel Howard) have weaved in this area of the world.

Again we fall into the same old trap, support a dictator who allows your world to financially gain by the attrocities and pretend it is bringing 'democracy' to a suffering people!

What the West has done now, almost ensures that radicalism will thrive and spread. The cynic in me thinks that may have been the plan all along.

Not until the big powers (not Oz of course, we being a pipsqueak!) get away from financial dependance on arms manufacture, will we have a chance of actually achieving some semblance of peace on Earth, at least that is the way I see it.

cheers

fog, you've added the arms dealer layer and that is p'raps the most significant, as you point out. I note that we've had the prospect of new fighter planes foisted on us because the ones we ordered aren't as good as the fighter bombers that Bob Menzies ordered and are apparently still in service.

Arms dealers are just used car dealers but better clothed.

Dr Nelson (when in the last government)was impressed by the style of the salespeople and so ordered the new batch of under performing planes, against the advice of his department.

The only hope for Australia is that when we're hit by climate change no one will want to invade us. What an awful scenario.
