CHILDREN ARE NOT SACRED TO ISRAELIS OR PALESTINIANS

January 7th 2009 00:34
CHILDREN ARE SACRED. BUT NOT FOR ISRAEL OR THE PALESTINIANS. THE ISRAELIS BEGAN KILLING THEM AND REASONED THEY COULD DO THAT BECAUSE PALESTINIANS LEADERS WERE HIDING BEHIND THEM.

IN RETALIATION THE PALESTINIANS WILL KILL ISRAELI CHILDREN. THIS WAS A PROUD ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THEM.

THEY EACH NEED PUBLIC RELATIONS MINDERS TO HELP THEM WITH SUCH A POLICY. THE LEADERS OF EACH COUNTRY HAVE LOST THE SUPPORT OF THE REST OF THE WORLD. IF THE WORLD WAS A DEMOCRACY THEY WOULD BE VOTED OUT, THE LEADERS INDICTED FOR INFANTICIDE - CHILD MURDER.

Yes, I agree. Whatever the historical claims made by both the Israelis and the Palestinians as to who has the right to to occupy the land, these actions are abhorrent. It show the utter inability of the two sides to treat each other as equals. Those in power don't want peace, they just want to win. I don't believe this will ever be resolved until a mediating body steps in.

Bill I agree.
The are like two bald men fighting over a comb.
The whole world gets destroyed in the process.

I think Teresa just said exactly what I was thinking, they both want to win regardless of the carnage.

Hi Bill, whilst I agree with the thrust of your article, I do think its a little unfair to state that "children are not sacred to Israelis or Palestinians", since I would safely say that the vast majority of both Israelis and Palestinians do hold their children dear.

The population should not be held accountable for the actions of the IDF and Hamas.

But I would also like to add that when it comes to this conflict what one side is trying to 'win' is total control over a rival population. The other side is trying to 'win' their freedom.

In no other conflict I can think of is a group of people so systematically oppressed, degraded, humiliated and deprived of their human rights, treated with such disdain when they attempt to overcome their oppression.

Ruby, certainly agree with the summing up of the Palestinians treatment by Israel but there is a new level of nastiness loose when children are slaughtered wholesale. For the Palestinians to say they will kill children too a ridiculously low level has been reached. There is patently no hope for any peace process, unless America stops pouring money into Israel. Iran is not helping the Palestinians in real way.

With the total complexity of the situation it seems to me that the children are an unavoidable issue everyone can take a stand on.

Oh I agree on that point, I am dismayed by Hamas's statement. I am hoping that it is simply angry rhetoric, a knee jerk reaction to the recent casualties. And on a practical level is it even feasable? Hamas launches its rockets from within Gaza and do not really have the means to specifically target children. Besides which, I guess my main point is that it is Hamas who made the statement, not the Palestinians en masse.

As for Iran, it is unfortunate that the very real plight of the Palestinians is actually being exploited by many in the region. Few Arab/Muslim countries have done anything to aid the Palestinians but most are quick to use their case to bolster their own political agenda. Consequently, more than anyone else it is the Palestinians paying the price of the anti-Muslim fire that rages in the West.

Yes Ruby I think it was angry rhetoric but it c an be played with so easily by enemies, and maybe supporters, that they should never go there.

Theresa , I think I've just heard they attacked the UN building, killing civilian s. I think we need a new body of mediators but Israel would never agree to it.

Damo, I like the image and perhaps comedy could destroy their self-regard.
