EAST TIMOR BETRAYED BY AUSTRALIA
November 4th 2010 02:18
"AUSTRALIAN troops will withdraw from East Timor in 2012 - six years after hundreds of them arrived in the nation to quell upheaval."
Very kindly, The Age gives no hint of our collusion with the Indonesian military up until six years ago minus a day.
The delay of 24 hours before landings, for no reason, by the Australian government allowed the Indonesian military to murder hundreds of East Timor dissenters.
Our then Foreign Minister was never asked why he delayed a day. The UN had given an earlier date for troop arrivals.
Prior to that we colluded with Indonesia in allowing them carte blanche in East Timor for 25 years. The result was 250,000 murdered in that time. It was the only country in the world with a falling population rate. The UN, and even the US later, were against the occupation by Indonesia. So basically Australia was an accessory (after the fact) to murder 250,000. Still we had a greedy need for their oil that was pushed for by minister Gareth Evans.
