RusselL Crowe's solution for the US economy may have raised a few smiles but imagine if it was adopted. A $million for every American and a fraction of the cost of the $trillion bail out.
It would mean of course that everyone could pay off their homes and debts and have dollars to spend. This would easily answer the fears of the Wall Street boys and the Federal treasury that America would stop consuming. THAT SEEMED TO BE THE ONLY REAL FEAR.
The only reason it couldn't be adopted is that all Americans have to pay the trillion dollars (through taxes) and that the wrong people would get money. Remember the whole exercise is to save capitalism and the very rich Wall street operators.
Take another look at the reason it won't be adopted: it wouldn't solve the problem. Sure it would solve the fears of diminishing consumerism, but it obviously wouldn't take care of the huge credit minuses. AND that means we haven't been told the extent of the debts and what the money was used for.
