subjective response to what has been happening

i have been quite impressed with myself this past week. Now this is not on account of an inflated ego, but rather a thirstier than usual intellect. this past week, past month really, i have been watching and reading absolutly everything to do with Australian Politics.
Australian Politics have were really never on my list of "must read" subjects. International politcs, politcal history and political philosophy all ranked significanly higher. This always puzzled me because any time a politcal discussion came to pass i would be the most strident speaker, riding on my high horse, pissing everyone off with my iontense emotional stand. but apart from that i never really had interests in policy or personalities. Until recently. so with this bit of self realisation i decided to do some research.
so what has changed in this country, a change that could have sparked my interest in late night news, online journals and newspaper articles? well um lets see, the labor party, or "kev o'sev" was elected! ok so this was obvious news, but it asnwered exactly why my interests were reinspired.
i am only 20 years old so basically since i was nine i have known this great nation being plagued by the consipracy that was the colalition lead by a man who refused social reform, refused it for 11 long long years.
the Liberal Party were always not on the same page as me on any issue, ever. this may sound overy arogant and hard headed but like i said, this is a subjective reflection.
so i am a happier australian, i read and watch out more for national politics, becasue i respect our government. isn't that the most important thing in a dempcracy? i think so
